Health Communication Core

The Health Communication Core (HCC) offers a full range of professional creative services—including writing, design, website development, and printing—to researchers, clinicians, and others from Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC), Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), and other medical and research institutions.

Dr. Viswanath directs the Core and works closely with its staff of health communication experts whose backgrounds range from behavioral science and message testing to web development and graphic design. The Core can lend its expertise at any point in a project, and is also available for consultation to assist investigators in identifying and planning the communication needs of their research.

ECHO Lab (Enhancing Communications for Health Outcomes)

The ECHO Lab, which is managed by the Health Communication Core, was created in part to address the gap between health communication research and practice. Its offers a state-of-the-art, multi-media facility for conducting formative research, focus groups, experiments, and usability studies. The ECHO Lab can be used by researchers to better observe and understand how their target audience reacts to a variety of message formats in different media, ranging from print materials to interactive technologies, and evaluate how health information can effectively be delivered.
